Title: Scene Girls
Description: What Good Are They?
Sweet Clementine - June 23, 2008 01:47 PM (GMT)
It's sad to me how Hardcore has degraded down to Scene kids, and how Scene kids have produces massively skanky Scene Girls (ie Audrey Kitching). It's even sadder that so many young girls want to grow up to be a materialistic slut like them.
Not to say that some of them aren't beautiful (externally) and now how to make a damn good photo, but their vanity kills everything around them that could have been used to their benefit. They don't really do anything except stand in front of a camera, point, click, post on Myspace and/or Buzznet, and then watch the teenies, sceenies, and wannabees go nuts.
How do you feel about this? Should someone be famous just for what rock star they've dated or becaus of photos they make?

I don't think it's sad if someone actually aspires to be a model for certain reasons. If they really want to do that because they love fashion/would like to travel, or actually want to carve a successful career out of it for themselves, then I say fair doos. What is horrifically sad though, is someone who aspires to be an internet celebrity, or even just a regular celebrity who is famous for nothing other than being, well...famous.
If someone feels that fame and recognition is what they need to complete their life, then I pity them more than anything and lets face it, if people are going to be ridiculous enough and give them that fame, then so be it. All it does is provide us with a saddening view on our society.

The question of beauty is pretty subjective. How much of the photo has been doctored by an imaging program? How much make up are they wearing? There are a lot of girls who I've seen, that without these trends wouldn't be considered pretty at all, but because of all their "statements" - panda eye liner, racoon extensions etc - people tend to be all "OMGZ you're sooooo stunning" and you know, maybe they are to some people, but when you look closely? Not so much.
As for taking the photo, is there any real skill in taking a photo of yourself using a tripod and self-timer? This really irritates me, especially in the fact I'm off to study photography in August. Why should they get the credit for that perfectly composed and perfectly lit photograph? What happened to their photographer?
It's pretty laughable that they have photoshoots for their myspace pictures. What happened to being natural?

I can't say I've ever heard of someone becoming overtly famous because of dating a rockstar, unless it's to the group of said rockstar's fans and if they have, it's generally because they've been mildly famous in their own right. My answer? No. People should be famous on their own merit...not because of their husband/wife's actions. Does no one have a leg to stand on these days?!
As for the photos...I think it depends entirely on the circumstance. Being famous for your default myspace picture? No. Being famous for a cleverly shot advertising campaign? Oh, that's a grey area.
Sorry, that was a bit long ^^
Sweet Clementine - June 23, 2008 02:54 PM (GMT)
You made some good points. I still feel like this is the golden age of getting famous for nothing, and a lot of these girls are prime examples.
Lucifer's Angel - June 23, 2008 03:14 PM (GMT)
Is it a good thing I've never heard of any of these girls? They don't sound that great, it's not cool to be famous for nothing, like so many reality TV stars  Too many people just want to be famous so they can be on TV, like the freaks on Jerry Springer or anyone on some reality show, that is depressing. People ought to be famous for doing something worthwhile, like being a talented artist or actor or musician, not just because you're dating someone famous or because you're on TV. :td:
Clanswoman - June 23, 2008 03:20 PM (GMT)
i´ve never heard of these girls either, but i guessed we´ve not missed out on anything...i actually googled this audrey kitching to see what this topic is actually about, and what i got to see was simply some fake, exaggerated pics of some pink-haired chick
and i couldn´t really figure out why she´s supposed to be famous at all...to me she simply looked like one in a billion girls craving for attention and therefore dress up really weird..
it is really sad to see how someone like this can actually become faamous for really nothing at all...i mean what does she do all day? put on make up and change dresses and pose? wow, must be pretty stressful i guess -.-
Sweet Clementine - June 23, 2008 05:15 PM (GMT)
Audrey Kitching is a hair stylist and model who basically got famous after she dated Brendon Urie from Panic at the Disco. Millions of scene girls call her Jesus. It's sad.
Emmi - June 23, 2008 06:49 PM (GMT)
I have never ever heard of these girls before. What the hell?
Metfuk - June 23, 2008 07:10 PM (GMT)
Are scene girls the same as what they call 'preppies'?
MissHorseman - June 23, 2008 08:45 PM (GMT)
Scene girls are.. What should I say? Some defines scene as "emo with colour" and that pretty much explaines their style in hair, clothes and makeup. But I don't know, I'm not an expert on this subject :P
I dont really know what I think about these people.. But when someone says "scene girls" I think of some tiny girls with loooads of makeup on and extreme hair extensions. I have to admit that I agree with Doro on the fact that I think they do extremely little good to the world.

What's the use of bashing people for how they look and do? Let them be who they want to be, treat people like you want to be treated yourself.

I completely agree with Bryant.
Respect is the issue here, if you ask me; I mean, like Bryant said 'treat people like you want to be treated yourself.' It's more than logical.

I suppose it depends. Have they worked for their fame? Have they earned it fairly? Many people work hard in this world, even change things for the better, but don't get any fame for it.
So I can see the point in this thread. But honestly, I've never even heard of these girls. Maybe I just don't pay much attention to celebs.
So they are models? If so, then they are working, and you do have to have a lot of patience to stand in front of a camera for hours. Are you saying that they would have just been like any other model, but got famous because they were dating certain people? A lot of the time normal people get famous just by being with a famous person, right? Or is it the trend that is ridiculous? Sorry, I'm a little out of the loop here.
Sweet Clementine - June 25, 2008 12:28 PM (GMT)
Wooooowwwww I didn't realize that so many people really had no clue about this subject. Kind of makes me regret starting this.
heavymetalhippy01cg - June 25, 2008 01:40 PM (GMT)
I know about them. i call it aesthetic fascism...they really do think they're better and superior than someone else because they can use photoshop and take pictures of themselves.

You're both right.
But these girls are known to be disrespectful to just about every single person they come across. Simply because they know the right people and have the right amount of money.
Shit, these chicks have touched less lives and make less money than Metallica or any other respectful band does, and they act like they deserve to be treated like jesus because Daddy cut off their trust fund and they have to work for themselves for once...I don't see metallica doing that. Just about every person I know who has met Metallica says that they are very down to earth people, and utter gentlemen.
I'll give them that, these girls work their asses off so they could promote themselves and make more money and become more known.
And if they want to be famous for "just being famous" then so be it, fame doesn't last long for the talentless anyway.
I have a friend who works in that whole music scene and has gotten to know most of these people exclusively. And they pretty much are incredibly jaded people who feel the need to claim superiority so they don't fall into the giant cracks their insecurities have left in their personalities. That being said, that mindset is exactly what sends normal girls [specifically those in my age demographic] into a downward spiral of depression. They see these "beautiful girls", want to be like them, spend day and night studying them, and worship their every move. Then the moment comes where they attempt to establish some sort or connection or common ground with these girls, who in turn feel threatened and resort to making these young girls feel like shit by basically stating "You will never be on my level".
So my point is, if you can't give respect, you won't get it back.

I have to agree with Roxie, if they work so hard on becoming famous(just for being famous..which I tihnk is just stupid) they have to prepare themselves for that they WILL probably become rolemodels for people, maybe especially young people, and rolemodels aren't supposed to look down on the people looking UP to them, these people probably respects them very much, like we respect Metallica, and if they don't respond to that respect in a positive way and respect them back, well they can just go fuck themselves for all I care.. I could never be able to respect a person acting like that.

Well that is entirely true. But I agreed with Bryant on the subject 'respect', and I completly agree with you, Juju if it comes to this matter. There are certain people I do not have respect for; if not 2 people who comepletly messed up my life, then those people you mentioned.

Sweet Clementine - June 25, 2008 05:46 PM (GMT)
It's kind of like a weed that's grown out-of-hand.
I'll post a few pictures of probably the most famous Scene Girls so you'll know what I'm talking about:
Audrey Kitching
Called the "Scene Queen" because she's kind of the one who started this whole mess. Dated Brendon Urie from Panic at the Disco.
Jac Vanek
Probably the second biggest Scene Girl right now. Dated Ryan Ross from Panic at the Disco.
Raquel Reed
Hanna Beth
Kiki Cannibal
Lana Jade
Dated Brendon Urie for about six months and got a shitload of attention when she released a blog on Myspace claiming that Brendon drugged her, raped her, and tried to force her into threesomes with bandmate Ryan Ross. Obviously the allegations were fake and she was trying to stir up shit out of bitterness.
Jeanae White
Dated Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy for about six years (she was 14 and he was 22 when they started seeing each other, I think). More known as a personal trainwreck these days instead of a Scene Model.
Zui Suicide
And last and definatly least, the trannie on the list,
Jeffree Star
He's "Good Friends" with Chris Crocker. They even made a video together where they make out and then Chris calls him his "brother". This mess also dedicated one of his pageant-themed photos to Jean Benet Ramsey :ugh:
Are you as scared as I am? Sure, they're all beautiful, but...egad. Decline of Western Civilization.
In the poll I placed on DeviantART where I asked which one was the biggest whore, the top five came out like this:
1. Jeffree Star
2. Audrey Kitching
3. Lana Jade
4. Jeanae White
5. Raquel Reed
lolo - June 25, 2008 06:05 PM (GMT)
Ah I think I understand it...
let me see..
I think they look a bit fake but hey whatever makes you happy
It isn't my sort of girl... but I can see that they can make you insecure as fuck if you look a them
but what bugs me most is that if I understand it correctly they are famous because they have dated someone famous, and I that doesn't make them famous they shake (and make) things up a little.....
Let them have their 15 minutes of fame.. they came out of nowhere, they also will disappear into nowhere
oh yeah
That Jefree Star had the most ugly eyebrows i have ever seen

So this girl...basically accused him of drugging and raping her with an orgy with some other guy. I think thats the lowest u could go...i wonder if she actually knows that actually happens to people and the more people who are like that, the more people kinda think that girls who rightfully accuse someone of raping them are lying.

Ah, I get it now. Thanks for the heads up, I thought this was about the normal high school cheerleader types and stuff.
But still, I stand by what I said, I know a couple of girls that would qualify as Scene girls, but they're nice to me and I'm nice to them. Hell, I even went to a party filled with Scene girls and had a great time. :P It's just a few (?) rotten apples that ruin it for the rest I guess.

Personal I don't have nothing against scene . If those people wants their 15 minutes of fame let's them have it . Because you know e-fame is the big deal
But I can't stand some scene people , well, mostly one specific person .Some of his acts are completely disgusting . :ugh:

Honestly, they make me laugh. They're just in desperate need of attention and since they're too empty to gain it with their talent they try this way. It's fine for me, one can do what he wants...but it's so pathetic.
TakeNoPrisoners - June 26, 2008 08:17 PM (GMT)
I for one don't have problems with scene girls but I sure dislike the way some of them treat some people.
I know a bunch of them around school /in my friend circle and they're usually fun loving girls. It has a lot to do with their personalities. Not because they're Scene Girls they're whores or anything.
But some of them are pure garbage, treating unpopular people like trash, doing shit behind people's backs etc. But like all group of people they have their shares of bad apples.
Just bagging on them as whores seems so out of place and uninformed Clementine, not something I'd expect from you. It's a very "bonehead metalhead" behavior. Generalization and labeling is totally not cool.
I wonder though, what inspired you to post such a thread?

That I can understand but I didn't expect Clementine of all people to post something like that.
And a point I forgot to make on my previous post:
Some of the posts said that none of these people had talent or brains. If you ask me, even Britney Spears (Who I despise) has talent. Those people have ways of gathering attention or ,if we approach it from a musical stand-point, selling records.
People like that are more talented in marketing and making themselves marketable, talent's not one sided.

I agree 100%
Britney Spears is not a talented musician, but a talented product. She sold herself well over the years...I mean she was like the most famous pop act for ages.

I never heard os Scene Girls before in my life.
I understand that you don't like what they represent but it's rather obsolete to write about them. I don't want to offend but writting about someone in a forum and complaining that they are too famous and shouldn't be is being an hypocrite.

But then again, during her heyday, Britney Spears had the guidance of advisors, agents, and managers.
She obviously couldn't market herself properly during the promotional period of her last album, and as a result, it was a commercial failure.
Granted, it garnered a lot of buzz and critics actually liked some of the songs, but it was severely overshadowed by her personal problems.
And that is key in promoting yourself as a entity, making sure the personal doesn't overshadow the professional. And she failed in that.
The minute she dropped all of them and did what she want, everything went to shit. That's not to say that any artist who does that will experience the same fate, but if you're not in the right mindset and don't learn from the guidance you've recieved, then you're basically fucked.
I understand what you all are saying, because these girls have the capability of promoting themselves and making themselves likeable in some form, but being able to do only that can sustain you to a limit.
Unless these girls really are talented [in terms of performance] and hope to express those talents when they feel they can attain the opportunites they want, then that's good for them.
Sooner or later, the public is going to want more, want to see more of you and what you can do...and it simply just can't be dying your hair the right color, getting the wildest piercings and tatts, or posing for cameras wearing cute clothes...much less treating the people who made you who you are like shit.

Ohhhkkkaaaayyy I have a lot to answer to here.
1. I started this thread because of a topic on a message board that I'm the moderator on. This led to the poll I placed on DeviantART. I never said that every Scene Girl is a skank, but a large portion of them are. If you make photos of yourself half-naked and running around acting slutty with your friends, plus people are only fans of you because of who you've dated or been with, that to me seems like stupid reason to be famous. Sure, they all look good to a various extent, but would most people care about them at all if they never dated or slept with so-and-so? No. I think it's sad.
2. The whole Lana Jade thing is really disturbing. I'm not saying that Brendon Urie is an angel (he's definitely not), but some of the allegations she made towards him were hideous and obviously not true, since the police never got involved. Some say that the whole blog was fake, but why would someone make up something like that? She had a private account, plus she wasn't gynormously famous at the time. It's a weird situation, and the band has never commented on it.
3. Metalicious AKA Jill...hahaha. So we meet again. BTW, I'm friends with Jen now. Put the drama behind you, please. That was three years ago.
4. Burak, I hear you out on the points you made, but I still feel like I need to retain mine. The image that these girls promote to younger girls is not one that really needs to be projected. It kind of sends the message of "if you buy expensive clothes and hang out with rock stars, you can be famous for taking pictures". At least with Britney Spears, she was a singer and dancer and had a solid reason for a fan base. These girls really don't.
I knew this was kind of a hot topic in a lot of places, and seeing that this is a Metal-based community, I wanted to get opinions from people here. That was really my only purpose.

want my "true metal" opinion then ?
Scene Girls are just a joke.
they are NOT famous.
They just get a lot of attention over myspace and buzznet
While these girls prentend to be hardcore because they've dated some dude from some Joke Band that are everything but "Hardcore" (no offense to Panic At The Disco and other bands alike fans)...
...I'm having good times with real people in real life at real metal festivals and i probably meet more musicians a day that they will meet their entire life
i just don't go out there sticking pics of me with so and so and who i'm dating on myspace showing the world my "i'm dating X. how lucky i am, your not" attitude.
+ i guess i'm not desperate for fame to the point i would use other famous people to grow my own "fame" doing so called ""modeling"" pictures wearing pink heir extensions and a hello kitty t-shirt. lmao
why should we care ? basically...because they don't give a good image to the kids out there ? naah really it's not such a big deal. i admit it's pretty painfull to run into all these emo kids but yet again it's just on the internet...as long as they don't start to show up and bitch at a Slayer show i'm fine with it. it's not as if the new trend was to burn cars and at least the good thing with these not beautifull at all scene girls is that kids don't all believe that you have to be skinny to be a model hehe

You make some really great points. If I were dating someone famous (like Andy), I wouldn't slab my photos all over the place. I might put one up just so people knew I was happy with him, but I wouldn't feel the need to rub it in someone's face.

exactly. i mean it's always ok to put pictures of you and your boyfriend up on your myspace page and stuff, even if he's "famous" that's your boyfriend after all.
i'm just mad at a lot of girls i've seen setting their page to public and wrote stuff like "'im X i'm amazing and i'm dating Y from Z" ugh come on, it makes me wondering if they are dating this guy for who he is or what band he's in.....
it's a matter of respect and true feelings here.
some kids would be like "Zomg you are dating him yer so lucky and stuff i want to be you"
if you recieve messages like this 50 times a day either you are humble and go "yeah whatever thank you" either you set your page to public and add as many fans of your boyfriends band as you can, because with it goes jealous girls and drama is always good for "fame" and other girls that would lick their ass just to be "friend with X's girlfriend"
