Title: Iran
Description: Are they really that much of a threat?
Metfuk - July 12, 2008 10:56 PM (GMT)
Lately there has been a lot of fuss about Iran. This time they are testing missiles.
What I wonder now though, is it really all that good of an idea of the West + others to give Iran all this attention?
I don't really think they are that much of a threat and I don't think the West should get teased by them like how it is happening now.
And why can't Iran have their missiles while all big nations have missiles?
Maybe it's time to react when they actually DO something. Nobody is yelling about the West having nukes anymore yet we all get nervous by Eastern countries developping them.

Let aside the fact I think no country should have missiles, I think we should keep an eye on Iran. I do agree with you that this much fuss is only helping Amadinejad in his plans...there should be less fuss and more discrete attention, we should really try to understand how far this man and his country intend to go. I don't think they are the biggest threat, but they certainly can be a threat.

i've only recently gotten into Bible Prophecy (the past year) and Iran (Persia) are a major player in the End Times.
this is an article from my fav. Bible Study site

North Korea is a similar threat, but it would be foolish to declare war on North Korea . . .
Though Bush doesn't care. Thank goodness we only have him for 190 more days!

Might just be 190 days too long... :wink
And I also didn't really get the North Korea crap. Ignoring them would probably be best. No nation is foolish enough to actually use their nukes. Too much risk of a chain reaction at all times.

have you seen the doco. 'The Fog Of War'?
when Robert McNamara met Fidel Castro decades after the Cuban Missile crisis he said that he was quite willing for Cuba to be nuked...he didn't care that what they were doing would cause his own destruction and the rest of his country
Armadinajad is the same. he will gladly use the nukes even if it means self-destruction.

sadly Metfuk these men don't care about others. Armadinajad has said several times that he wants to wipe Israel off the face of the earth.
rent 'The Fog Of War'...it won an oscar for best doco. ~5yrs ago...it's all about Vietnam etc.
the weird thing is bastards like Saddam Hussain kept guys like Armadinajad under control...now that he's not there it's Iran's time to play

I think not much people fully and truly realize how much the nuclear bombs are dangerous. If Iraq's president is one of them, then maybe we got to be careful. And certainly there are people that don't care much about others, as seen with terrorists and such. To have it their way they can go very far, the point is how much far?

I do have concerns about Iran, but I realize that the US antagonized our relationship with them when we removed their president and re-instealled a Shah back in the '50s. We're partially to blame for this mess. I can understand the hurt and animosity, but that still gives them no excuse to threaten others.
I think we have more important concerns in the world besides them, though.

A few months ago I read quite an interesting article on Ahmadinejad by Joe Klein in Time Magazine.
He made a point that Ahmadinejad isn't as dangerous as Bush might want him to seem.

i heard about that...the Shah was a friend of the US right? wasn't he like royalty? i'd hate to live in Iran, i got nothing against the Iranian people but the government hang people for being gay. other beliefs are not tolerated/allowed :td:

The government is horrible. My mom has had Iranian students and she's told me about what happened.
