Hey Raquel, I have a problem with the signatures at chix. I often can't see them. It's like they just don't load. I've already cleaned my history, cookies and temporary internet files, so I don't think that is the problem. I don't know if anybody else here has the same problem...

If it was the avatars, smilies, banner or others forum graphics that weren't loading then I'd say it was a forum fault.. but because it's sigs that aren't loading, which R@quel doesn't host, then I'd guess it's a problem on your end.. have you tried using a different browser?

No, I haven't, 'cause I can't just switch browers.
But, I think I know the source of the problem. You see, my dad who has a PC downstairs and thus the 'main' internet connection, started downloading and whenever he downloads, my internet is veeeery slow. So, that may be the problem...

I didn't know for sure, so I thought I'd just announce it, in case there were others...and I didn't know Raquel doesn't host sigs...

I didn't tell you to switch browsers, just to test one in case it was a browser fault

But I'd say you've got it, if your Dad is sucking up most of the connection then your browser will only load the main bits of the forum

I can see everything just fine, and I haven't noticed any interruption in the server. If you are viewing signatures as a GUEST, you will not see them. Only logged in members can view the signatures. This is done to aid in loading and prevent people's photo host accounts from fritzing out.

Raquel, I tried to update my avatar, it said no bigger then 25 kb.
And when I wanted to update my signature, it said: no longer then 85 characters, but normally it was 250.

What's going on?

The avatar has always been 25kb, since day one. It has not changed. If your avatar is too big (File size) then you cannot upload it. It is the default board setting.

As for signatures, it has been 85 characters for a while now. It was changed due to several people coming to me with concerns that the board was running very slow.

I've a small sig and it's too big for the "85 characters" limit, and it won't let me edit anything in it.. posting a thread about the limits of sigs in pixels might help more with the speed of the board.. e.g: 500x250

The board only permits character limits.

I would be more than willing to remove character limits alltogether if everyone agreed to a set pixel limit.

Without any limits whatsoever, however, people get signature crazy and have 4 and 5 signatures in a row, which is completely excessive and inconsiderate to other users on the board.

Well they don't have to agree, you're the admin, if you post a thread that its a rule that a sig should be no more than a certain size, and anyone goes over that then you can go crazy on their ass :P

I like seeing sigs, but as it is at the minute I've it set up so I don't see sigs on this board.. because otherwise all I see is a line of text between masses of artwork, haha

I've talked to my dad. He's not gonna download that much anymore :P
